HAY Gang!

Ooops - I meant hey!

You'll never guess what happened last week when I went apple picking - there were no apples! No matter where we looked, all the apples had already been harvested. All we could find were tomatoes (Yuck!). I was really bummed out until later in the week when a couple of pretty cool things happened...

First, the Equine Science Center held its annual Stakeholder Meeting. That meant any person with a stake in the programmatic efforts of the Center was free to attend and contribute to the discussion about equine-related issues that impact the New Jersey horse industry. There was some pretty good discussion, but most important, at least to me, was the decision to keep the Center's priorities on horse health and well-being, integrity of equestrian sport, horses and the environment, and ensuring the viability and future of the New Jersey horse industry. Equine Science 4 Kids and the new Fun on the Farm game also received a lot of attention. Did you know that Equine Science 4 Kids is the third-most visited page on the Equine Science Center website? I was as excited as a young colt when I heard that!

The second thing that really made my week was a visit from one of my adoring fans. She came out to my farm with enough doughnuts, muffins, and peppermints to feed a whole stable of Lord Nelsons! I gave her a ride out in the arena - that little bit of exercise was just what I needed since my foot is still a little sore. Hopefully I will be back up to full speed by Halloween!

That's all for now, but stay tuned!

  1. Hi Nelson. Your paddock mate Hugme Christi just won a big race in this wind! Give her a hug when she gets home!
